Health Information & HIPAA Disclosure
Journey Tracker is developed and operated by Apex Development Studio LLC. This disclosure explains how Journey Tracker handles your health information and clarifies the app's regulatory status under HIPAA and applicable health privacy laws.
1. HIPAA Status
Apex Development Studio LLC develops and operates Journey Tracker as a consumer mobile application. We are not a HIPAA-covered entity as defined by 45 C.F.R. § 160.103. Journey Tracker is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or healthcare clearinghouse.
Your health data entered into Journey Tracker is not protected by HIPAA. The company has implemented AES-256 encryption, on-device storage, and iCloud private database isolation as described in the Privacy Policy. These safeguards are described in further detail throughout this disclosure.
Why HIPAA Does Not Apply
HIPAA protects health information when it is created, received, maintained, or transmitted by a covered entity or their business associates. Journey Tracker is a personal wellness application. The health data you enter is generated by you, stored on your personal device, and used only to operate the features you choose to use.
Applicable State Health Privacy Laws
Applicable state consumer health data privacy laws will, in some instances, include laws with broad scope such as Washington's My Health MY Data Act and similar laws enacted or pending in other states. These laws apply to any entity collecting consumer health data regardless of company type or revenue. Even though HIPAA does not apply, we are committed to honoring applicable state health information privacy rights. Contact us at support@journeytracker.app to exercise any applicable rights.
2. Health Information We Process
Through the app, you may voluntarily enter the following health information:
- Body weight, body fat percentage, muscle mass, and BMI
- GLP-1 medication name, dose, injection dates, and injection site rotation
- Symptoms experienced during therapy (such as nausea, fatigue, or constipation)
- Laboratory results including HbA1c, lipid panel, metabolic markers, and other values
- Hydration intake and fasting windows
- Health goals and personal notes
Additionally, with your permission, Journey Tracker may read certain health data from Apple Health (HealthKit), including body weight, blood glucose, blood pressure, and dietary water intake. See our Privacy Policy for full details on HealthKit integration.
3. Not a Medical Device
Journey Tracker is not a medical device as defined by the Food and Drug Administration (21 U.S.C. § 321(h)). Journey Tracker does not:
- Diagnose any disease or health condition
- Treat, cure, or prevent any disease
- Provide medical diagnoses or recommendations
- Constitute medical advice of any kind
Journey Tracker is a personal health data organization and tracking tool. All information displayed by Journey Tracker is derived from data you enter and is provided for personal informational purposes only.
4. Medical Disclaimer
The information, features, and AI-generated analysis provided by Journey Tracker are intended for general informational and personal tracking purposes only.
Nothing in Journey Tracker is intended to diagnose any disease or health condition; recommend or prescribe any medication or treatment; replace the advice of a licensed healthcare provider; or constitute the practice of medicine, nursing, or any other healthcare profession.
Always consult with your prescribing physician or other qualified healthcare provider before making any decisions about your health, medications, or treatment plan. Do not disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice based on anything you read or see in Journey Tracker.
5. AI Lab Analysis Disclosures
5.1 Nature of AI Analysis
Journey Tracker Pro includes an AI-powered laboratory result analysis feature that:
- Uses the Google Gemini API, operated by Google LLC, to generate plain-language interpretations of your lab values
- Strips names, personal identifiers, exact dates, account numbers, and contact information using automated on-device processing before any data is transmitted
- Operates on a paid Google AI billing account (Tier 1) — under Google's Gemini API Terms of Service, paid-tier data is not used to train or improve Google's AI models
- Processes your data under Google's Data Processing Addendum; API request logs are retained by Google only temporarily for security and abuse-prevention purposes. Google does not offer a Business Associate Agreement for the Gemini API; data is transmitted only after automated de-identification as described below.
- Is designed to help you understand what your lab values may mean in the context of GLP-1 therapy
- Is informational only and does not constitute medical advice
De-identification is performed using automated on-device processing (Apple Vision OCR and on-device natural language analysis). The process is designed to remove all categories of personal identifiers specified under 45 C.F.R. §164.514(b)(2) (Safe Harbor method), including names, geographic data, dates, phone numbers, addresses, and other direct identifiers. No automated system is perfect. By using this feature, you acknowledge and accept the residual risk that some information may not be fully removed in all instances. You can review what was sent after each analysis session within the app.

5.2 AI Limitations
AI-generated analysis:
- May contain errors, omissions, or information that does not apply to your specific situation
- Does not have access to your complete medical history
- Does not consider other medications, supplements, or health conditions you may have
- Is not reviewed by a licensed healthcare provider before being presented to you
- Should not be relied upon as a substitute for professional medical interpretation of your laboratory results
5.3 Explicit Consent Required
Before the AI Lab Analysis feature is activated for the first time, you will be presented with a separate consent screen explaining exactly what data is transmitted. You must affirmatively consent before any data is transmitted. You may withdraw this consent at any time through Settings → Features → AI Lab Analysis.
6. GLP-1 Medication Tracking
Journey Tracker supports tracking of GLP-1 receptor agonist medications including, but not limited to, semaglutide (Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Rybelsus®), tirzepatide (Mounjaro®, Zepbound®), and other GLP-1 agents.
The medication tracking features in Journey Tracker are for personal logging purposes only. Journey Tracker does not provide dosing recommendations, does not verify medication prescriptions, and does not communicate with healthcare providers on your behalf. All medication decisions must be made in consultation with your prescribing physician.
7. Emergency Situations
If you believe you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.
Do not rely on Journey Tracker or its AI analysis feature in any emergency situation. Journey Tracker is not designed for and must not be used in emergency medical situations.
8. Reporting Adverse Events
If you experience an adverse event or side effect that you believe is related to your GLP-1 medication, consult your healthcare provider immediately. You can also report adverse events directly to the FDA through MedWatch at fda.gov/safety/medwatch.
9. Regulatory Notices
9.1 FDA Regulation
Journey Tracker has not been submitted to or reviewed by the FDA. It is not a regulated medical device. Journey Tracker is classified as general wellness software and as administrative support software under applicable FDA digital health guidance. The application does not perform clinical decision support that would require FDA clearance or approval.
9.2 No Prescription Verification
Journey Tracker does not verify that any medication entered in the app has been prescribed to the user or is being used as directed. Users are responsible for using all medications only as prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider.
